Madison’s 2nd Birthday

It’s hard to believe that just three weeks ago we were all prepping for hurricane Irene to bear down on us, something we really aren’t used to since we are a good hour from the shore. Saturday brought along with it the beginning of the rain and wind but not the brunt of it yet. Thankfully I didn’t have a wedding that weekend and only needed to drive about five minutes! I was scheduled to shoot Madison’s 2nd birthday party and a “little” rain wasn’t going to stop her party! The guest count was smaller than originally planned but the party was still a success. Elmo made a stop to wish Madison a happy birthday and after a bit she warmed up to him, even instructing him how to pick up candy from the piñata! Also part of the party was a surprise for Madison’s grandpa Todd! It was also his surprise 60th birthday/retirement party. The shock on his face when he walked in the door and then again when he saw his cake was priceless. Check out the pictures below to see for yourself  :)

Rich & Melissa {Rosebank Winery}

Rich and Melissa contacted me last year to photograph their reception after my now cousin in law recommended me to them. They were heading to Mexico for a destination wedding and then coming back to have a reception with all their family and friends. I love that, what girl wouldn’t want to get the chance to wear their wedding dress twice?! The reception was held at the Rosebank Winery in Newton, PA. The actual reception room was in a renovated barn and it was beautiful! I loved all the rustic touches scattered about the barn. It also had an amazing view from top floor deck. In some of the pictures you can get a glimpse of it. I had a blast shooting at such a beautiful location and working with Rich and Melissa was a pleasure from start through the whirlwind table shots to the end :)  I seriously have the best couples!

Zane’s Senior Portraits {Smithville Park}

It’s just a given that guys don’t really enjoy having their pictures taken. Whether it’s part of the bridal party or on their lonesome, most just prefer to be doing other things :P Zane and his mom Jen met me in Smithville Park in Burlington County to do his senior portraits and I could tell he’d rather be jumping off a building…literally (You’ll understand later promise!), but he was such a good sport. We started out near the water on a dock and then a floating bridge, which was really odd to walk on! Then we moved into the woods and got some awesome shots using a metal bridge and then Zane scaled up a tree! It ended up being a really neat angle to shoot through the leaves. Afterwards we continued on and came across what looked like it used to be an old mill. Zane is an avid jumper so of course our session wouldn’t be complete without him scaling a wall and flipping off of it. I loved putting the images together into a collage that showed him from start to finish flipping. It was really neat, I just wish there had been more places he could have done it on so we could have shot more of it!

Michael & Emily {Cape May Wedding}

The day of Mike and Emily’s wedding was a hot one! The temperature had to be in the 90′s and the whole way down to Cape May I was crossing my fingers that it wouldn’t rain. I met Emily and Mike at the Wilbraham Mansion, which is a gorgeous vintage bed and breakfast that just match the style of their wedding perfectly. One of my favorite shots of the day is of Emily in her room since it looks like we went back in time. Typically a bride wants a white dress, whether its a simple sheath or the princess ballgown, but Emily went in a different direction. Her dress was a beautiful cream colored tea legnth gown with black and blue accents, topped off with a vintage hat and short veil. It was perfect! I personally love everything 50′s so the style of their wedding was right up my alley.

The ceremony itself was held on the bay at Harbor View Park which made a beautiful backdrop. As Emily walked down the pathway to her future husband, Mike sang while his groomsmen played guitars. I wasn’t sure he would be able to make it through but he did a pretty good job! I believe he only got choked up once :) Once the ceremony began everyone gathered around the bride and groom as they exchanged their vows. It was a very beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony everyone headed over to the reception at Alethea’s Restaurant. The restaurant was another amazing location. The room was beautifully with its chandeliers and natural light coming from the walls of windows. It was the perfect spot for Mike and Emily to spend the evening mingling with their family and friends.

Rick & Melissa {Shannon’s Country House}

For a week it rained every. single. day. I think we were all trying to remember what the sun looked like! At my pre-wedding meeting Rick was checking the ten day forecast and it wasn’t looking good, but by some miracle we all woke up to the sun shining bright on Saturday for Rick and Melissa’s wedding day! The day was filled with laughter and happiness, as well as a few tears (ok many) tears of joy. As Melissa walked down the aisle you could see the joy radiating from Rick’s face and it was wonderful to watch him tell her how beautiful she looked. After the ceremony the party got started at Shannon’s Country House in Atco, NJ. The dance floor was packed from beginning to end! Capturing the crazy dance moves is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding and I was not disappointed J Thank you to Rick and Melissa for asking me to capture your day. It was so much fun and quite a party!

Mike and Emily’s Fairmount Park Engagement

This past weekend I got together with Emily and her fiancé Mike at the Art Museum in the Fairmount Park area of Philadelphia. We snagged a few shots before exploring the streets surrounding the museum. We found a variety of different nooks and doorways to have them pose in and we got a variety of shots. I think my favorite ones are from our last stop at the Lucky 7 bar. We were all thirsty from walking around in 90 degree weather for a couple of hours and no one objected when I suggested we find a bar to take a few shots in (pictures that is)! The Lucky 7 just happened to be a block from my car and exactly what I had pictured in my mind…an old fashioned, brick walled building with a great wood bar. Check out some of my favorite shots below!
